"A new person, it was said, had appeared on the esplanade: a lady with a
pet dog."
In this original adaptation of Chekhov's beloved short story,
Rough & Tumble combines Chekhov's lyrical prose with the
company's trademark exuberantly theatrical style to create
a surprising and exciting evening of theater. Using minimal
sets and evocative lighting and movement, the production
follows Dimitri Dmitrich Gurov and Anna Sergeyevna from a
seaside resort in Yalta, to the bustling, snowy streets of
Moscow, to a crowded, stuffy theater in the provinces.
