Here's a QT for "Adria"
-----
Rough & Tumble's current production, "Adria", proves that this quirky group
can be funny even when speaking English instead of "Blah-blah". Their
signature physical comedy and thrift-store quick change costumes are still
effective. The script, credited as a group project feels a bit too
improvisational; the dialogue is servicable , but the ending is
questionable. R&T has joined forces with Luna Theatre, a puppet group whose
shadow work provides much needed continuity, though clever scene-shifting
creates some nice effects as well. Sight-lines to the shadow screen could
be improved, and Luna's one direct-manipulation figure, a small man who
delivers a cookbook to the librarian hero, "Adria Grey" played by Tori Low,
should be integrated into the storyline better. Still, taken as a work in
progress, there's more than enough interest here to spend an hour and a
quarter and a sawbuck on this unique show.
